Centre for Computer Studies, Dibrugarh University is one of the premier institutes of North-East-India imparting computer education.

Dibrugarh University initiated its journey of imparting computer education by establishing a Computer Centre in 1976. The Computer Centre was established with the objective of creating Computer awareness among the teachers, research scholars and employees of the University. It started Computer education by introducing a "Six-months Certificate Course on Computer Programming". It also trained the employees of various banks including State Bank of India, Dibrugarh university Branch and helped them in computerization. In 2004, it was upgraded to the Centre for Computer Studies(CCS) and a "Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA)" course was started . BCA was introduced in July, 2004 and MCA and BSc (IT) were introduced in January and July, 2007, respectively.

The Center offers the following courses at present:

3-Years(6-Semester), Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
3-Years(6-Semester), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
3-Years(6-Semester), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc. [IT])
1-Year, Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA)
1-Year, Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA/DOEACC 'O' level)

Activities

Besides regular teaching and learning in the classroom, the faculty members and students of Centre for Computer Studies keep themselves involved in many educational and social activities. The faculty members are pursuing their research works and they keep themselves upgraded by attending national and international workshops and conferences. They are also involved in software development and computerization of Directorate of Distance education (DU),Examination Branch(DU), Counselling and Admission procedure of students of the University, Election of Post-Graduate Students' Union(DUPGSU) etc. The students also develop softwares and websites for different departments/organizations inside and outside the University. The Centre organizes Computer Awareness Programmes for school students of neighboring areas of the University. The Centre has also conducted a number of training Programmes for University employees and Bank employees.
